This document explicitly establishes the professional parameters, operational capabilities, and statutory clinical limitations governing all care assistance provided by Wumi Healthcare across Zambia.
Wumi Healthcare functions strictly as an institutional provider of premium home-based care, hospital bedside family support, vital signs tracking, and non-clinical facility relief staffing. Wumi Healthcare does not independently diagnose medical conditions, formulate primary curative prognoses, or prescribe pharmaceuticals.All clinical maintenance tasks (such as urinary catheter support, stoma care, or simple wound dressings) are executed exclusively by verified, registered nursing personnel operating strictly under the written, authorized directives of the Client's primary diagnostic physician.
2. Division of Personnel Responsibilities
To prevent dangerous domestic misunderstandings, our workforce is bifurcated into two distinct operational tiers:
Certified Home Healthcare Assistants and Ward Assistants. Their scope is strictly limited to non-clinical human support: gentle bathing, dressing, meal preparation, feeding assistance, domestic housekeeping, routine fall prevention, and empathetic bedside companionship.
Personnel holding verified, active practicing licenses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ). Their scope covers clinical logging: tracking vital signs, blood glucose tracking, stoma/catheter hygiene, and complex post-operative wound monitoring.
3. The Attending Physician as the Sole Clinical Authority
Wumi acts as the specialized eyes and ears of the home; we do not act as the brain. If a family member asks a Wumi professional for medical advice (e.g., "Should we double my father's Lisinopril today because his blood pressure reading is 150/95?"), our staff's contractually mandated response is: "We are prohibited from adjusting dosages; we will log this specific metric and contact your primary doctor immediately for clinical instructions."
Wumi Healthcare does not own, operate, or dispatch emergency paramedic road ambulances. In the event of an acute, sudden medical deterioration occurring during a shift (such as severe chest pain, sudden unresponsiveness, acute respiratory failure, or major stroke indicators), the Wumi professional's sole duty is to administer basic stabilization first-aid while immediately triggering an emergency dispatch. The Client agrees that acute emergency cases must be transported instantly to the casualty department at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital, or the nearest equipped medical center.
5. Advanced Conditions & Unavoidable Decline
A substantial percentage of Wumi's clientele live with advanced, progressive, or terminal pathologies (including late-stage Alzheimer's, severe Parkinson's, end-stage renal failure, or advanced metastatic cancer). The family or legal proxy explicitly acknowledges that:
- High-standard home care assistance is designed to preserve daily dignity, alleviate domestic suffering, and maximize physical comfort; it possesses no power to arrest or reverse the inevitable natural trajectory of advanced terminal illness.
- Wumi Healthcare, its leadership, and its deployed caregivers shall bear zero legal, financial, or moral liability for the natural physical decline of a chronic patient, nor for a peaceful, expected end-of-life passing occurring during or between scheduled care shifts.
6. Medication Administration Boundaries
Our caregivers assist strictly with medication reminders and the physical handing over of oral or topical pharmaceuticals that have been clearly pre-sorted into marked blister packs or daily pill organizers by a licensed pharmacist or the primary family proxy. Wumi staff are strictly barred from breaking tablets in half, calculating liquid suspension measurements from unmarked bottles, or administering schedule-restricted intravenous narcotics.
Engagement of Wumi Healthcare constitutes official acknowledgment that the Client understands these clinical boundaries and agrees to rely on their primary physician for all definitive medical diagnoses and treatment plans.
